Shaila has a green thumb and her garden is to die for! But this recipe she shared, we tried it and we loved it!
Ingredients
FOR THE BHAT
1 teaspoon rai
1 teaspoon jeera
1 tablespoon roasted chana
1 cup of rice, cooked
Grated kairi
Salt to taste
Oil
Garlic cloves, chopped
Green chilli
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves for garnish
Hing
Turmeric powder
Roasted groundnuts
FOR THE DAL
1/2 cup black gram
1/4 cup tur dal
Masoor dal
Chana dal
Moong dal
Green chilli
Garlic
Jeera
Fresh coconut
Coriander leaves
Directions:
FOR THE BHAT
- Roast rai and jeera together.
- Add roasted chana, rai & jeera to a blender bowl and grind it to a powder.
- To one cup cooked rice, add the powder, grated kairi and salt.
- In a pan, heat some oil and add garlic, green chilli, curry leaves, hing and turmeric powder. Add the rice to it and saute. Top it with roasted groundnuts. Garnish with coriander leaves.
FOR THE DAL
- Cook all the dals together in a pressure cooker.
- Grind the garlic, jeera, fresh coconut and coriander. Saute this mixture in ghee. Add the cooked dals to it and bring to a boil. Serve the dal with kairi bhat.
